Project Overview
Objection:
Re-configure an app to solve the problem of "too many dogs in the dog shelter", by the end of the day.
Goal:
Re-configure an app so more dogs would get adopted from the shelters
Deliverables:
HIgh-Fidelity Mockup Prototype
Research
Why Paws?
There are about 3.5 million dogs in shelters, and I believe if we can fix the user journey to adoption, we can lower the number of dogs in the shelter.
Finding the Top Pain Points
Pain Point Summary

Shelter
Pain Point:
Some shelters have a website, but for the most part, users have to visit in person to see what dogs they have available.
Adoption
Pain Point:
The user does not know what to expect for the adoption process.
Going Home
Pain Point:
Users feel discouraged when they go home without adopting a dog.
Summary
I decided to re-configure the popular dating app Hinge into a shelter dog adoption app. I came to this conclusion based on the user reach. The whole process for going to a shelter and coming home empty-handed deterred many people from going again. This way they can swipe threw dogs that are in different shelters in their area to see which dogs have the traits they are looking for and they won't be deterred from going to a shelter because they know what to expect.
Also, I believe one could argue there are many similarities to finding a dog to adapt and finding someone to date

Next Steps
The next steps would be to improve the Hinge layout to better support the users. I personally would love to do A-B testing and see if my hypothesis is correct.
" User would have more useful matches if there is a visual that shows them the percentage of the dog's specs. vs. the user's preferences."
