nurse connect logo v3.png
An app that is designed for travel nurses.

Overview

Problem

There are an estimated 25,000 working travel nursing jobs in the U.S. presently. While there are many befits of being a traveling nurse, there are some stress factors, for example

• Not knowing anyone in the area

• Constantly having to apply to a new contract (most contracts last for 13 weeks)

Goal

• Create a platform where recruiting agencies would want to post job openings

• Eventually, have a customed recruiting side where recruiters can track the progress, etc. with the candidate

Business

• Create a safe space where traveling nurses get a sense of community

• Create a user flow that doesn't add stress

• Create an app that makes traveling nurses lives a little easier so they can focus on their patients

Users (Design)

My Role

Lead Designer: While I worked on Nurse Connect, I executed the following need-finding, IA, wireframing, UI, prototyping, usability, copywriting, product roadmap prioritization with the CEO, and some visual design.

Overview
Research

Research

"Listening To Our Users "

Step 1

The reacher interviewed 10 and sent surveys to 20 users to determine how nurse connect could best support them. The results of the interviews and survey helped priorities the sections. The results allowed us not to make a blind guess but find a path best suited to our user's needs.

Summary of Findings

Top 3 most important to our users
95%
Jobs
83%
Community Chat
80%
Meeting new people in the area

In conclusion, we based our bottom navigation sections off of these findings.

Jobs

We decided to create a job section based on user research. This section will allow recruiters to post job opportunities for traveling nurses.

Main Section

We decided to create the main section to contain chat like feel where people can post questions or funny memes. This section will give a sense of community and allow people to post questions anonymously.

Events

We decided to create an event section where people can post hangouts, allowing travel nurses to make new friends when they don't know anyone in the area.

User's Journey

By laying out the user's journey, we could clearly see where our app would play a part in the user's life.

Research Summary

By listening to our user's needs, we pinpoint where our app could be the most helpful in a travel nurse's life. Our goal isn't to reinvent the wheel; it is to make the lives of travel nurses easier so they can focus on providing the best service to their patients.

Wire-Frame Summary

We decided to go forward with all of these screens after creating many different iterations. We felt this layout provided our users with enough interaction without feeling overwhelmed.

Referance Guide

I create this guide so that everyone was on the same page, this allowed the CEO to see what each icon was for and what it resembled.

Find a job section of the user journey

Traveling Nurses need to find a new contract on average every 15 months, the hospitals do not do direct hired they must go threw a recruiter. Because of this, we knew we needed recruiters to be active. How we solved this problem was by giving recruiters star ratings. The more active they are plus there responds rate the number goes up. The gamification theory shows high interaction results and is fun (win, win).

Below are some high field mock-ups we created after doing user reach into the recruiter side, for the investors.

Recriter side of the app

When some create an account on Nurse Connect they have to choose between Recruiter or Nurse. The Recruiters will see the screens below

$$ Summary

On the business side of things, Nurse Connect is hoping that by providing a platform that increases the placement success of recruiters. This % increase will prove Nurse Connect platform value to there company and can start charging post fees.

Next Steps

After using the prototype to do user testing we were able to nail down an MVP. The next steps are coding the MVP and soft launch.
