My Role
UX Interaction Design Manager II: During my time at J&J Innovation Lab, I was able to help out on a few projects. Unfortunately, most of the work is under NDA, so I did my best to show one of the projects I worked on without breaking the NDA.
Research
We were lucky that J&J has a whole research team and tons of scientific data that we had access to. Unfortunately, all of that is under NDA so here is an outline of our thinking.
Step 1
We broke down a mothers journey to birth. In an abstract way of thinking, we came up with 3 main thoughts going threw a mothers mind.
-
What to buy
-
What to read
-
Doctor apts.
Step 2
We created a user journey for each task, to fully understand what would be best to assist the mother with these tasks.

Business Goal with User Goal in mind

Suggest products to the users
In our research, we found many of the moms were not sure what to buy. By our product recommendation, we can suggest products would help mothers and babies. We can show the value in different brands and allow mothers to make there own decisions.

Product information
By educating mothers on products and why they are useful, we found that they didn't feel lost.
Next Steps
After the user feedback, we decided to do another iteration that would solve some of the users' problems before we send the prototype to the coders.
